Amsterdam, Netherlands; London, United Kingdom; St James, Barbados; and Toronto, Canada May 8th, 2017– Solar Provider Group continues its global expansion by establishing an office in the Netherlands. The country’s solar market is touted to become one of the largest continental hubs for new solar capacity, with local experts estimating 5 to 15GW growth in the PV market over the next 10 years.

With a wealth of international experience spanning across Canada, the United States and Europe, Solar Provider Group is well positioned to equip the Dutch market with fresh ideas and an industry-leading track record in delivering state-of-the-art solar solutions both on rooftops and utility-scale ground-mount developments. The company is planning to hire between two and ten professionals in business development and engineering over the next two years, as well as create multiple local jobs in installation, electrical services and construction through services agreements.

Solar Provider Group is looking to deploy more than 100 MW, or EUR 100m in solar investments through direct development as well as joint development and partnerships with local solar companies and developers. Tom Helliwell, Head of European Operations says “In addition to carrying out independent solar development across the country, we are looking to partner with local developers in the Netherlands. Collaborating with Dutch solar experts allows us to broaden our development pipeline in parallel to providing partners with extensive global experience and financing solutions which may otherwise be difficult to secure.”

The Stimulering Duurzame Energieproductie (“SDE+”) state-run renewable energy operating grant is the cornerstone of the Netherlands’ observed success in the deployment of new renewable energy as the nation makes strides towards achieving its ambitious and binding EU target of generating 14% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2020.

“We have been monitoring the SDE+ for over a year at Solar Provider Group, its continued success combined with increased funding and the surge of successful solar applications seen in recent auctions makes this the perfect time for Solar Provider Group to begin operations in the market” said Michal Tvrdon, Head of Project Development, Solar Provider Group. “The Netherlands’ commitment to sticking with its demanding EU obligations paves the way for foreign solar developers to enrich the market with pioneering and progressive development methods which can allow the country to hit its targets”.

Solar Provider Group already has a wealth of experience in the European solar space, with successful development in Germany, Ireland and the United Kingdom and will replicate its established business model upon entry to the Netherlands.

“At Solar Provider Group we have always taken extra measures to ensure that local communities can benefit from solar development. The Dutch are rightly proud of their agriculture and countryside and so it’s paramount that any new solar development will benefit the local community and wildlife,” said Guido Visser, Business Development Consultant, Solar Provider Group. Christian Wentzel, President of SPG further explains: “By way of example, our development of Vine Farm Solar Park in the U.K. consisted of over 200 acres of land, equating to 47MW of solar capacity to be installed, one of the largest developments to date in the country. We were able to create a beautiful nature park surrounding the development inclusive of public walkways, additions to the ecosystem, including bird boxes and badger setts and a wildflower and grassland meadow surrounded by 50,000 newly planted trees and hedges. We aim to implement a similar model in the Netherlands. This is just one example of Solar Provider Group demonstrating that when solar is done right, everybody wins”.

Solar Provider Group Ltd. is an international solar development and investment company, focusing on ground mounted and large-scale rooftop solar projects. SPG specializes in the development, financing, engineering, construction as well as operations and maintenance of solar installations and has completed over 200 projects accumulating in an annual reduction of more than 70,000 tons of CO2 emissions globally.
