Toronto, August 31, 2016 – Today, Solar Provider Group, a vertically integrated global leader in the development, construction and operation of solar PV electrical generation assets, is announcing a partnership with the City of Mississauga to bring close to 400 kilowatts of rooftop solar generation to fruition across the city.  Construction of two projects, one atop the Burnhamthorpe Community Centre and the other on the Huron Park Recreation Centre, is now complete with interconnection to the local electricity grid and power production scheduled for early September.

“Solar Provider Group is proud to partner with the City of Mississauga to bring clean, renewable electricity to these communities.” said Sebastian Seyfarth, CEO, Solar Provider Group. “We applaud the City’s leadership on solar. Projects like these clearly demonstrate Mississauga’s commitment to environmental excellence, and set an important example for local residents and businesses, as well as other municipalities, in terms of taking action in support of clean and sustainable sources of energy.”

The City of Mississauga is making the solar power generation projects possible by leasing roof space to Solar Provider Group at the two sites. Developed under Ontario’s Feed-In-Tariff program, the Burnhamthorpe Community Centre and Huron Park Recreation Centre projects have peak output capacities of 209 kilowatts and 179 kilowatts respectively. Together, the two systems employ 1,257 solar modules which are expected to produce a combined total of approximately 454,000 kWh of clean, pollution-free electricity annually. Apart from their environmental benefits, the projects have generated a number of engineering, construction and project management jobs, boosting local economic growth.

KB Racking Inc., an Ontario-based manufacturer of best-in-class mounting systems for solar installations, supplied their EkonoRack 2.0 mounting solution – a lightweight, non-penetrating system designed for rapid installation. The solar systems will provide an added benefit of protecting the community centre rooftops from the sun and elements, extending the lifetime of the roof on both buildings.

Solar Provider Group has completed over 100 commercial-scale solar projects under Ontario’s Feed-In-Tariff program, in addition to the development of many more commercial, utility-scale and community solar projects across the United States, the United Kingdom and the European Union.
